Napa workplace accident kills man

Although you may not work in a so-called dangerous industry, you should still realize that accidents can and will happen. Recently, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office, a winery employee was killed after being struck by a stack full of metal wine barrel racks.

The 43-year-old man was unloading the racks from a truck when the accident occurred. Police noted that the racks, each one weighing approximately 85 pounds, were stacked on top of one another. For this reason, the man served as a guide as they were moved by another worker with a forklift.

Unfortunately, as the racks began to fall, the man tripped and was unable to move.

At this time, it is unsure as to how many racks fell on the man. However, it has been noted that there were 17 racks on the truck, totaling more than 1,400 pounds.

The man was an employee of Trinchero Family Estates for two harvests, with the chief executive officer of the company saying, "As a family-run operation, every employee is part of our extended family and the loss is very painful for all of us."

At this time, Division of Occupational Safety and Health in California, the organization responsible for investigating the accident, has yet to comment. However, the company is cooperating with the investigation.

Workplace accidents happen for many reasons, even when people don't expect to be involved. As a result, it is possible that somebody could be seriously injured or even killed.

When a person is killed in a workplace accident, it is up to their family to learn more about the cause and to determine which steps to take next.
