A serious car accident in California left one person dead and three more people with serious injuries. The person who passed away was actually thrown completely out of one of the vehicles.

The crash happened on Saturday, Dec. 15. It took place right around 11:00 p.m., according to reports, and it happened on Highway 101. It occurred in the northbound lanes.

Firefighters and other emergency crews responded to the crash and closed down those northbound lanes, which did not open again until about two hours later. It was the firefighters who reported that someone was ejected from a vehicle and killed in the wreck. The others, with serious injuries, were all rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The exact nature of their injuries was not reported.

The news did note that one person got arrested after the accident, though the exact charges were unclear. It will be important to keep an eye on the situation as it develops and more information about the cause and nature of the crash comes out.

One still shot from the scene showed workers in high-visibility vests, washed in blue light from the emergency vehicles. They’re standing near the concrete barrier, behind a white car that is completely crushed in the rear portion of the vehicle. It’s twisted so far sideways that the rear doors are not visible. Behind it sits a black car, though you cannot see any significant damage.

Don’t underestimate how devastating a crash can be or how fast it can change your life. When you lose a loved one or suffer serious injuries, you need to know if you have a right to compensation for all of your costs.
