On dog bites and the people responsible for them

Dog bites aren’t talked about enough. Even though dogs are man’s best friend, they can also be incredibly powerful and vicious animals too. When a dog views another person as a threat and they attack with unrelenting force, the victim often suffers terrible injuries. In the worst case scenario, the person loses their life.

Even though dog bites and attacks of this nature aren’t particularly common, they happen often enough that people need to be aware of their rights. They need to know what do in case they unfortunately are attacked by a dog.

If you are attacked by a dog, you should go get the medical treatment you need immediately. Once that is done, you can focus on the legal side of your case. There are many different parties who could pay damages as a result of your case. The owner of the dog is the obvious example, but homeowner’s insurance and even car insurance could end up paying you as a result of the dog attack (depending on the circumstances).

If the owner of the dog is a minor, then the minor’s parents could be responsible for paying damages to you. The property owner or the landlord of the property (if the attack occurred on their property) could be held responsible too.

In these cases it is imperative that you have legal help on your side to ensure that your case is being handled appropriately. Given the potential injuries and the costs associated with a dog bite, you owe to yourself to have an experienced personal injury attorney on your side.
