2 important pieces of safety equipment on construction sites

Construction sites are incredibly dangerous, and there are hazards that can’t be easily removed. Because of this, it’s critical that anyone who’s on a construction site has proper safety gear.

Hard hats and steel-toe shoes are two of the most important pieces of safety gear for workers. These protect the head and feet from hazards that could lead to life-altering injuries.

Hard hats

Your head is one of the most vulnerable parts of your body, and an injury to this area can lead to catastrophic brain injuries. A hard hat is designed to absorb the impact of objects that fall onto the head. They can also offer protection from low-hanging hazards and flying debris. In some cases, hard hats may need to include electrical protection, but these are specialty hard hats that must be rated for this protection.

Steel-toe boots

Steel-toe boots protect the toes from crush injuries, which can stem from a heavy tool or material being dropped. They can also protect from punctures and burns. If the boots have a non-slip bottom, they will also help to prevent construction workers from slipping.

Construction workers who suffer injuries on the job site should receive immediate medical attention, the cost of which should be covered by workers’ compensation. Other benefits, such as partial wage replacement, might be possible if the worker isn’t able to return to work quickly. If they can’t return to the same job duties, they may be eligible for vocational rehabilitation. It may be beneficial for these individuals to work with someone familiar with these matters so they can have assistance throughout the process.
